Florean Fortescue's occupies a corner of Diagon Alley with a small indoor seating room and a few outdoor tables. It scoops a rotating list of unusual flavours alongside a soft-serve Butterbeer that is the single most ordered item in the shop.
The flavour list is the interesting part. Earl Grey and lavender, salted caramel blondie, clotted cream, sticky toffee pudding and strawberry and peanut butter turn up on the board, and they are properly made rather than novelty-coloured versions of vanilla.
The Butterbeer soft serve is the reason most guests queue, and it does the job better than the drink does — the flavour works considerably better cold and solid than it does carbonated.
The best dessert in the park and cheap by Diagon Alley standards. Order the Butterbeer soft serve once and then work through the rotating scoops.

Our take: The find in this shop for anyone over about fifteen, and the only dessert in Diagon Alley that is not built on butterscotch. Genuinely well made rather than a novelty flavour.

Yes, and it is not close. The butterscotch and shortbread flavour works considerably better as a cold soft serve than it does as a sweet carbonated drink. If you are only trying Butterbeer once, try it here.
